Despite the GOP’s failed attempt earlier this year to repeal Obamacare, a new survey shows that dismantling any and all parts of it remain a major priority for the people who put them in office.
This remains especially true of one of Obamacare’s most nefarious tentacles, the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which circumvents Congress to allow 15 unelected bureaucrats to make cuts to Medicare funding and services.
According to a survey sponsored by the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA):
- 73 percent of Republicans believe Obamacare needs to be eliminated and that “repealing any part of it is a good start.”
- 60 percent of Republicans claim that, “repealing both the individual mandate and IPAB is a big step towards repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act.”
- Two-thirds (65 percent) of Republicans and a majority of seniors (54 percent) agree that, “IPAB is one of the worst parts of Obamacare”
Said CASE President Matthew Kandrach, “Obamacare continues to wreak havoc on Americans’ healthcare, raising costs, reducing care, eliminating choice and harming the quality of services for consumers from across the spectrum. While Congress may have struck out in their first attempt during the Trump Administration to repeal this horrendous law, the game is far from over. It’s time they step back up to the plate and win this one for the American people.”
While full repeal of Obamacare remains the objective of center-right voters, IPAB drew special scorn. 60 percent of Trump voters said in the poll that eliminating IPAB was the next “best” step in dismantling the law.
With the 2018 elections looming, this survey should serve as an cogent reminder that there is still work to do before legislators head home to campaign, and that Americans are still counting on them to keep their promise and rid Obamacare from our healthcare.
