Today, Consumer Action for a Strong Economy (CASE) published an analysis of the FCC’s Restoring Internet Freedom docket, which has nearly 5 million comments in the record. The data consists of all comments pulled using the FCC’s API as of June 20, 2017.  The analysis can be found here.

Given the importance of this proceeding, and with a record number of comments already submitted a month from the comment deadline, we wanted to dive into the data to get a snapshot of where things stand.  Based on the analysis, roughly 65% of the docket is in support of repeal of the 2015 rules. Furthermore, nearly 6% of comments filed are coming from self-identified international filers, and approximately 75% of all comments are from letter campaigns coming from both sides- for and against repeal.

This is meant to present several of many ways of looking at the comments based on the public data.
