Consumers deserve access to a free marketplace, but just as importantly they deserve a market that doesn’t pose unnecessary risks to their health, safety and well-being. We all deserve to participate in an economy that holds bad actors accountable for any reckless, negligent or deliberate acts that take unnecessary risks to our health and quality of life.
Consumer safety demands a safe food supply, access to safe medicine and medical care, and products that perform as advertised. Security requires that consumers’ personal and financial information be protected at all times, and that those participating in our economy don’t succeed in actively deceiving the public regarding the quality or nature of their goods or services. CASE does not hold to the dominant trend that believes every possible risk can be minimized by government action and red tape that goes to the Moon and back, as that kills hope consumers will prosper. But CASE will vigilantly stand guard for the most critical consumer protections that ensure a handful of bad actors don’t poison the marketplace through outright deception or tortious behavior.
