(Alexandria, VA) – Consumer Action for a Strong Economy released the following statement today after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warning letters to flavored, disposable, foreign-made e-cigarette companies Esco Bars and Breeze. In announcing this action, the FDA acknowledged that illegal, disposable e-cigarettes in kid-enticing flavors are driving the youth vaping epidemic.
“This long overdue action by the FDA lands a direct blow on illegal, disposable, flavored, e-cigarettes that are getting kids and teens hooked,” said Gerard Scimeca, Chairman of CASE. “The FDA must now follow through with relentless enforcement action against these illegal products and several others that were recently added to the red list. With the growing risk of foreign-made and potentially fentanyl-laced vapes, the Biden administration must act immediately to get and keep these dangerous vapes out of our country and away from kids.
