Alexandria VA – Consumer Action for a Strong Economy (CASE) today launched a digital ad campaign challenging special interests pressuring the President Biden to impose a ban on the sale of menthol cigarettes.
The initial ad highlights a floor speech delivered by North Carolina Congressman Don Davis (D) detailing the devastating impact of the proposed ban, declaring, “It’s about the 27,000 jobs that hang in the balance.”
“Callously, special interest groups are pressuring the Biden administration to dictate how U.S. consumers, farmers, and businesses live, work and play without regard for the injury they will inflict upon hard working Americans and their families. President Biden has wisely paused implementation of the menthol ban, but if the ban moves forward, his administration will be snuffing out thousands of jobs in North Carolina, irreparably harming the Tar Heel State’s economy.
“CASE will continue to stand up for consumers by opposing regulatory overreach and nanny-state politics, highlighting the seriousness of this issue and the very real consequences of the administration’s scheme targeting American consumers and U.S. manufacturing. Congressman Davis said it best: ‘Wiping out these jobs is unacceptable.’”
