Today, President Joe Biden signed Democrats’ reconciliation package into law. Gerard Scimeca, the
Chairman of Consumer Action for a Strong Economy (CASE), released the following statement criticizing
the President’s decision.
“President Biden’s signature on the deceptive ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ is a blatant case of hypocrisy. The
President has often labeled himself a champion of bold healthcare initiatives such as cancer research. In
February, he even remarked that under his Cancer Moonshot plan, he wanted to cut the cancer death
rate in the U.S. in half within the next 25 years. Yet the legislation he just signed contains multiple
provisions that could cripple the innovation and research necessary for such progress. Rather than
working to bring about new, lifesaving treatments, Democrats’ overreaching legislation will actively
hinder advancements in American healthcare. If the president actually cared about improving the
quality of healthcare for American families, he would not have signed this reckless package.
“The president clearly says one thing and does another. His lies expose a concerted effort to deceive
America’s patients and push a dangerous liberal agenda.”
